+Pro/ENGINEER 7 day intensive to Industrial Designers

Course Duration: 56 Hours 7 Days or 14 Nights @ 4hrs per evening.

Tuition: $2700.00 USD

Overview:
This course will empower Industrial Designers to use Pro/ENGINEER at a very high level, similar to that of Alias. This class would be beneficial to students who already have an understanding of Alias, and the surfacing techniques required to excel. Participants will undertake over ten tutorials specifically designed to give a strong foundation within the Pro/ENGINEER constraint based modeler. Pro/E Level 1 training is an introduction to constraint based modeling utilizing the latest release of Pro/E. This course will cover our Pro/ENGINEER Level 1 and Pro/SURFACE Level 1 thru 3 and ISDX 6 or 7 emphasizing both bullets below. This class will effectively combine solid and surface modeling techniques while utilizing Pro/ENGINEER. This will take place within an intensive seven day course specific to Industrial Designers whom already maintain surfacing skills. Because participants already maintain a high level of surfacing we can move quickly through the tools.

This courese can be offered in once week 40 hours. inquire by phone

Prerequisite/assumptions: People attending this class should have a degree in Industrial Design and possess an understanding of surfacing in Alias, Rhino or any other surfacing package.

The Basics that Engineers typically learn
(and ID'ers will also learn in this course): 4 days

Part Mode/Assembly Mode Customize environment / Map key development Creating features: Protrusions, Sweeps, Patterns, Shell and Draft. Discuss sweeping draft as apposed to the draft tool + discuss pull direction with examples. Use Modify, Redefine, Insert Mode/Reorder/Reroute & Utilize Redefine. Learn to redefine parts (with certainty) that others have modeled. Learn to use drawings not only to document but as design tools for controlling snap fit and accuracy. Discuss Engineers responsibility for capturing form from ID drawings or foam models and discuss techniques for creating advocates out of engineers. This portion of the training will focus on the basics of constraint based modeling and using drawings as design tools.

The Basics that Industrial Designers want to learn: 3 days

Two days of parametric surfacing and One day of free form using ISDX. Discuss light reflections for interpreting form. Use
extrude, sweep, and free form surfaces. Discuss the basics of four part boundaries and discuss problems with 3 part boundary. Manipulate a curve through points using nurb modeling techniques (TWEAK). Merge, trim, offset, transform, replace and extend surfaces. Create solids and cuts using surfaces. Utilize new skill sets to smooth out solid material from problem areas and to force rounds. Introduction to lattice structures for building more robust curved surfaces. Eliminate isoparms and discuss tangency issues in detail. Discuss managing flow or striation of surface. Discuss in detail the Industrial Designer's role of proving form as opposed to capturing form. Discuss precisely what deliverables are required for the Engineers in relation to the design field. Also, discuss design teams techniques and their deliverables to the engineering department. A portion of this training will focus on ideation and proving form inside Pro/ENGINEER with both Pro/SURFACE and ISDX.

Project: There is a wide assortment of tutorials that participants can be challenged with.

Stop by our Chicago or Munich office to speak with an instructor.

This is a series of tutorials that focuses on proving form. The
workshop
is mainly for Industrial Designers but can be
administered to non degreed Designers and Engineers alike.

Pro/SURFACE
This model is the same as above. All three models use curves
built in ISDX, just manipulating the lattice structures to change
the shape.

isdx
Same model as above. Pro/SURFACE and ISDX
